I just noticed today the comment from robistoosaxy (thanks) about
Greenberg's apology, posted on his website a few days after Greenie
made his "womaned down" comments. Here, in part, is Greenie's apology
"I want to make it 100% clear - that was a very poor choice of words on my part, but that is not at all what I meant to say. And I also want to say that I’ve been in this business 17 years, and I should be above that. I am well aware that you are judged in this business by what you say, not always what you meant, and so I apologize unreservedly for having used such a stupid choice of words to make, what was, an entirely other point in a very serious discussion. So, I’m sorry that I said that, and I promise you, that is not the way I meant it to come out. … People understandably interpreted it the other way, and so I wanted to clear it up for anything who thought I said it that way, because you know what? I have said a lot of stupid things - I will continue to say a lot of stupid things - but that is something I would never say on or off the air, because I do not believe it to be true. So, my apologies, unreservedly."
I was watching a few minutes of their show this morning and it occurred to me that I haven't seen/heard the "man-up" shtick in a while. Now, I haven't caught every minute of the show the past two weeks, so maybe I've just missed it. But, if the incident gave Greenie some pause, I'll count that as a good thing.
And, credit to Mike Greenberg for owning up to this.
